The new Dark Horse Mustang was tested using a newly developed wind tunnel that allowed each tire to move independently. Having each tire rotate independently gives engineers more balance to make the car more aerodynamic. What do you think?

Car Facts:

  • Ford Motor Co. built two mid-engine Mustang-badged concept cars: the 1962 Mustang 1 and the 1968 Mach II.

  • Gale Halderman’s design that was selected as the basis of the production Mustang was originally called Cougar. Halderman and his boss, Joseph Oros, pushed hard for the Cougar name.

  • Ford originally forecast about 100,000 Mustang sales in the first year. More than 400,000 were sold.

  • Ford sold a million Mustangs in the first 24 months after it went on sale — the fastest time for a new nameplate to produce that amount of sales volume.
